Chocolate pizza – winning combo

Chocolate pizza - one yummy treat

Pizza? Good. Chocolate? Goooood. Chocolate pizza? Well…yep. Good.

I’m not talking about a bread base, tomato sauce and cheese topped with chunks of Cadbury’s. (Although I might try it one day. Chocolate and cheese work surprisingly well together.) I’m talking a whole pizza made from the good stuff: solid milk chocolate base, chocolate curls instead of cheese, and delicious toppings including marshmallows, honeycomb balls, toffee pieces and rainbow drops.

The Gourmet Chocolate Pizza Company has a whole range of delicious options – pick from full sized pizzas (7″, 10″ or 12″) or buy by the slice, opting for ready-made ideas or designing your own.

Pizzas are delivered in takeaway style boxes

As far as novelty factor goes, it’s fantastic. After ordering from the website, it arrives in a pizza-style box which opens to reveal a circular pizza – cut into slices, of course – of tasty pizza-style choc. Those local to the company (Nottingham) can also collect.

Price-wise, it’s a little more than an off-the-shelf box, but not much more than a posh box. Prices start at £7.95 for small whole pizzas and go up to £15.50 for a 12″. There’s a pretty reasonable additional £1.50 for customisation.

The chocolate itself isn’t the most luxurious you’ll ever taste, but it’s better than most novelty sweet treats. And given that there’s little out there like it at the moment, it gets one big thumbs up. Just don’t put it in the oven – that’s only going to lead to disappointment.
